There are plenty of mirrorless cameras in today’s market, but Sony’s A6000 has been a popular option due to the fact that it packs some pretty decent specs and it isn’t priced too expensive either. It also boasts as having the fastest AF system, at least at the time of launch. This also means that many users are probably anticipating its successor.
The good news is that you might not have to wait too long to learn about it. According to the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, they have heard from a source that the Sony A6000’s successor could arrive in March 2016. Their sources have also told them that the camera will be known as the Sony A6100, which we suppose makes sense.
As for its specs, not much is known right now, but Sony Alpha Rumors’ source has informed them that it could use Sony’s new 36MP BSI sensor. Assuming this is true, it would be a very huge leap. As it stands, the Sony A6000 uses a 24.3MP sensor, so the jump to 36MP would be a very big one, which is why we’re still a little skeptical over these claims.
However if it is true, then those of you who might need a camera with such a high megapixel count can look forward to its announcement. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us in the coming weeks/months where hopefully we’ll have more details to share.
