A couple of years ago, Snapchat introduced a new feature in the form of geofilters. For those unfamiliar with the feature, basically what it does is it allows users to apply filters to their photos based on their location. So if you are in Venice Beach, it will display filters that are appropriate and exclusive to that particular area.
Now according to a report from TechCrunch, it sounds like Snapchat is applying those geofilters with sports with a new filter called Live Score. Basically what happens is that when you are at an NBA game, you will be able to apply the Live Score filters to your photos and videos, which overlays the actual live score of the game taking place right now.
This will allow you to share live stats from the game with your friends and followers who might not be there themselves. It also seems like the filters will work with other matches, although were no specifics mentioned, but we’re thinking it wouldn’t be a stretch that it could work with the NFL or MLS games either, right?
In any case if you love sports and you’re an avid Snapchatter, then perhaps this Live Score geofilter might be worth checking out the next time you are at a game.
