As you can see in the screenshot above, when you are creating a new calendar event within the app, there is a switch to toggle a Skype call. The option will create a Skype call link for the event, so that when the reminder sounds, you’ll be prompted to join the Skype call which you can do at a touch of a button.
This is versus a slightly more inefficient method where you’d have to launch Skype yourself and join the call. Granted it’s not a huge inconvenience, but isn’t that what technology is about? Making our lives easier? Of course this will require users to have the Skype app installed and will prompt the user to download the app if they don’t have it.
Just recently Skype announced that to celebrate their 10-year anniversary, they will be launching free group video calls for the mobile version of its app, so if you’d love to group video chat with friends, family, or colleagues, then this feature in Outlook could come in handy.
