While Skype on mobile has always been able to make video calls, what it did lack was group video calls meaning that if you wanted to participate in a group video chat while on the go, that would not be possible. This is despite the fact that a similar feature has been available on the desktop version of Skype for several years now.
However it looks like that will change because, in celebration of Skype’s 10-year anniversary, the company has announced that they will be launching the (free) service on mobile devices spanning across multiple platforms. In a post by Skype’s Gurdeep Pall, “Today, we are excited to announce the next evolution – group video calling on Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows 10 Mobile.”
In the meantime, if you’d rather not wait, Skype is giving users the chance to get in on it early by pre-registering. All you’d have to do is head on over to Skype’s website, leave your email, Skype name, country, and device and there is a good chance you could have the feature enabled before everyone else.
