Skylake MacBooks Could See A Staggered Release In 2016

macbookWith Intel having recently released Skylake processors that look like they will be a good fit for Apple’s Mac lineup, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Apple announce new computers at a possible March event. In fact a recent analyst report suggested that we could very well see MacBook upgrades in the first half of 2016.

That report has since been corroborated by a new report from DigiTimes (via MacRumors) who claims that Apple is expected to stagger the release of new Skylake MacBooks, starting with the 12-inch MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pros which they believe will enter production in late March or early April.

Assuming that is true, the announcement of the MacBooks at Apple’s March event might not go on sale until later. The report also notes that following the 12-inch MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro, Apple will update the 15-inch MacBook Pro models in Q3. There is no mention of the MacBook Air but MacRumors points out that Intel has announced Skylake chips that are appropriate for the MacBook Airs, so chances are we could look forward to new Air models this year as well.

In any case while this is a rumor, we suppose it is a logical one since Apple does upgrade its models every year, so it really is just a matter of when, but hopefully we will find out more details in the coming weeks.
