The Saygus V2 is a very interesting smartphone to say the least, when it was introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 it was billed as the “world’s most advanced smartphone.” It has been a year since this handset was announced and it has still not been released. Saygus has now confirmed that it’s on track to start shipping the V2 later this quarter.
The delay really didn’t take many by surprise, it’s common to see new companies blow the deadline for shipping crowdfunding projects, it just sucks for the people who wait on the device for far more than they bargained for.
Saygus explains some of the reasons behind this major delay, saying that it had to end relationships with several of its component makers and suppliers, and it’s now doing much of the component building and manufacturing in-house. Setting all of that up took time.
The Saygus V2 features a 5 inch full HD display, Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB RAM, 21 megapixel rear and 13 megapixel front camera, improved fingerprint sensors, IPX7 waterproofing, multi-boot support, USB Type-C, 64GB onboard storage with support for expansion up to 400GB using 2 x 200GB microSD cards. It’s going to ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and with support for dual-SIM.
Customers who have been waiting on this handset can now start counting down the days for the Saygus V2 to arrive over the next couple of months, the company is yet to provide a concrete date, but, for now, the Q1 2016 timeframe is good enough.
