So, you have saved yourself quite a pretty penny in recent times, and would like find some ways of splurging but do not really know where to begin? How about getting a new car? And by that, I do not mean any kind of ordinary ride, but rather, the kind that will turn heads whenever you pass by. The Porsche 718 Boxster and the 718 Boxster S are surefire lookers, where these two rides would also be on the receiving end of a new suspension, brakes, styling details, and a four-cylinder engine. At the very least, you know for sure that these two rides are real unlike the Ferrari F80 concept. Check out the photo gallery of both vehicles in the extended post.
On the outside, the Porsche 718 does resemble that of a Boxster, although Porsche is quick to counter that “every body part except for the luggage compartment lids, the windshield and the convertible top has been changed.” Apart from that, the rides will maintain their mid-engine, rear-wheel drive powertrain configuration, ditching the flat-six cylinder for a totally new turbocharged flat-four cylinder engine instead, with the base model running on a 2.0 300 horsepower version, while the S adds on another 50 ponies in a 2.5 version.
Expect a six-speed manual transmission to keep the purists purring behind the wheel, and the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) that boasts of fuel-saving virtual gears is also available as an option. Being on sale officially already, the standard spec ride will cost $56,000 while the S will retail for $68,400 – and those are prices before you add on options.
