[CES 2016] What looks like the Hammerpede from the Prometheus movie is actually the PIC from the folks over at Boud. This is a non-threatening, inorganic device, although it might look as though it can slither away somewhere at a moment’s notice. Having said that, have you ever wished that your digital camera could have been more versatile in its design, so that you can capture shots from various angles that does not require you to be a yoga expert? Well, the PIC fits the bill perfectly, so let us check out what it sports underneath the hood.
First of all, the PIC will feature Full HD (1080p) video recording at 30fps, whereas it can also capture stills at 8MP. The built-in 480mAh battery does not amount to much compared to what we find in modern day smartphones, but do not let that deter you as it is good for up to an hour’s worth of non-stop video recording, stashing all that it has recorded into its 16GB of internal memory.
Apart from that, it will conform to the IPX7 splash proof rating, so it should be all right to bring with you while you are out for a picnic by the lake, or happen to have this wrapped around your wrist while you wash your hands. The 120-degree Hoya 5 glass aspheric lens helps you capture more than what a normal camera lens on a smartphone does, and all files can be transferred later on via USB.
A single button does all of the controls – from powering it on and off to recording video or snapping a photo, depending on the length and number of times you press it.
There are 5 basic colors to choose from – wild apricot, peach pink, pure white, dull grey and tiffany blue. For those who want something that looks out from the world of Monsters Inc., there are Jack (the horny one), Bob (three eyes on top), and Frank (with the troll like hair) character models. Expect PIC to arrive some time next month.
