The upside to battery cases is that they’re convenient in the sense that you don’t need to look for a cable, or carry around a spare battery pack. The downside is that they can be bulky, but if you don’t mind that extra bulk, you will be pleased to learn that Nyko has announced a couple of battery cases for the iPhone.
Starting with the Power Shield, this is designed for the iPhone 6 and 6s, so Plus owners will be out of luck. This is your standard battery case. It comes in a variety of battery sizes such as 2,500mAh, 3,000mAh, and 3,500mAh, and it also sports a slightly rugged design so it can take a bump or drop. It is priced starting at $119.99.
Next is the Power Shield Q also designed for the iPhone 6 and 6s. Unlike the regular Power Shield, this is basically the wireless version of it. It comes with wireless charging capabilities that will be compatible with the Qi wireless charging standard, so if you have a Qi pad, you can charge this case and your phone with it. It sports a 2,200mAh battery and is priced at $119.99.
There is also the Q Shield which is a case that gives the iPhone wireless charging capabilities. It is priced at $59.99. In addition to the charging cases, Nyko also unveiled other iPhone accessories, like the Power Shield Dock which as its name implies, is a dock for your iPhone. However it is compatible with the Power Shield case so you can charge both devices at once. All of Nyko’s products are expected to be released in the spring of 2016.
