At the moment save for the fact that the Nintendo NX will be the company’s latest gaming console, little to nothing is known about the device. There has been some speculation to suggest tie-ins with virtual reality, and at one point it was even rumored to be powered by Android, something that Nintendo shot down pretty quickly.
That being said, new speculation has surfaced, courtesy of Macquarie Research Japan senior analyst David Gibson who suggests that the Nintendo NX might be able to interface with our mobile devices, like our smartphones, for example. He even suggests the possibility that the console could talk to other gadgets like our PCs, or even rival consoles.
Consoles tieing in with mobile devices aren’t exactly new. In fact to a certain extent Nintendo did the same thing with the Wii U and its GamePad, but given how smartphones are more ubiquitous, this could help adoption along much quicker. There has also been speculation that because Nintendo is launching a new account system that it could have something to do with this.
In any case this is just speculation for now so take it with a grain of salt. However we expect that Nintendo will reveal more in the coming months, and possibly at E3 2016 in the middle of the year as well, so do check back with us then for the updates.
