While some of us might prefer taking photos of higher quality and the ability to choose from a multitude of different lenses, not everyone has those needs. In fact if you’re just looking for a digital camera to take with you on holiday and you want something simple, zero fuss, you might be interested in two of Nikon’s latest offerings.
Nikon has recently announced two compact cameras in the form of the Nikon Coolpix A100 and A10. The latter is particularly interesting as it will actually use two AA batteries to power it, meaning that in the event you run out of juice, just pop into any hardware or convenient store and you should be able to purchase new batteries to get it up and running again, as opposed to having to charge it.
As for its specs, the A100 will sport a 20.1MP sensor with a 5x optical zoom lens that goes from 26mm to 130mm. It comes with features such as Scene Auto Selector that takes the guesswork out of taking a photo, which might be useful for the novice. It also comes with tools like Glamour Retouch and a new Creative Slider.
As for the A10, this camera will come with a 16.1MP sensor and a 5x optical zoom lens that also starts at 26mm at its widest. Apart from that, it also seems to share similar features as the A100, like Scene Auto Selector, various retouching tools, and a slim body. We suppose the main differences is the megapixel count and the fact that the A10 is powered by AA batteries.
Pricing has not been determined as this will depend on the dealer, and they are expected to go on sale later this month.
