New Mini John Convertible Works Convertible Revealed

You might want to prepare for summer with a brand new ride from BMW, namely the new Mini John Convertible that will be out later this coming April. This particular ride is all set to make its debut at the New York Motor Show in March, but it looks like the full details of the ride has already been leaked out way before that. Just what will we be able to find underneath the hood? For starters, there will be a new 2.0-litre turbo engine that delivers 231bhp and 236lb/ft (320Nm) of torque, and this is made possible thanks to the use of strengthening beams.

Unfortunately for performance enthusiasts, this would mean having to sacrifice a wee bit of time in the 0-62mph dash, as that would now take 0.3 seconds longer (6.5 seconds) compared to the Hatch, and this is with the Steptronic automatic whereas the six-speed manual would hit the 62mph mark at 6.6 seconds.

Fuel economy remains the same, so theoretically speaking, drivers can achieve a rather impressive 47.9mpg and 138g/km of CO2 with the automatic, whereas the manual version would see a dip in the amount of mileage at 43.5mpg and 152g/km. Either way, the impressive fuel economy could be attributed to the auto start/stop and a Green Mode, where the latter enables a coasting function between 30 and 100mph.
