It hasn’t been long since Apple came out with the new Apple TV which is a big upgrade over its predecessors, not only is it more powerful but it also has the ability to run apps. However, it removed the Podcasts app that had previously been available on the company’s set-top box. Today the new Apple TV has finally received the official Podcasts app.
Apple shipped the third-generation Apple TV with the Podcasts app pre-installed, allowing users to sync with their iTunes subscriptions on desktop and iOS so that they could following their favorite podcasts even on TV.
This is why it was surprising to see that the new Apple TV didn’t come with an official Podcasts app, perhaps the app might not have been ready when the time came to release this set-top box. We did report back in November last year that the Podcasts app might soon arrive to the new Apple TV and today it most certainly has.
The Podcasts app for Apple TV is included in tvOS 9.1.1 that has been released today. This update is mainly a bug fixing update but does include the new app, Apple TV owners will no doubt be relieved that finally they will be able to catch up with their podcasts using the new set-top box as well.
