Lenovo’s 2016 Moto Flagships Will Feature Fingerprint Scanners

According to a rumor last month, it was suggested that 2016 could see the return of fingerprint scanners to Motorola phones (or “Moto by Lenovo” phones, as the brand is being phased out). Turns out the rumors were right because a report from Tech Sina (via Cult of Mac), Lenovo’s head of mobile Chen Xudong has confirmed it.

According to Chen, flagship Moto devices from 2016 are all expected to pack fingerprint sensors, which is good news for Moto fans who might have felt left out, especially when you consider that there are so many brands out there who have had the technology implemented in them for the past few years.

However if you might recall, it was revealed last year that the Nexus 6 almost had a fingerprint sensor, but it seems that Motorola at that time wasn’t able to get enough supply due to Apple having bought the industry’s best supplier, AuthenTec and that the second-best wasn’t quite there yet, at least as far as Motorola was concerned.

Apart from confirming fingerprint scanners, Chen also confirmed that the Moto phones launched in 2016 will be at least 5-inches or larger. Apparently smaller handsets aren’t that popular outside of Europe, so if you love big screens, then Moto by Lenovo handsets might be worth checking out this year.
