We know for a fact that LG will be at MWC 2016 thanks to the invites the company has been sending out. There is also a good chance that we will see Samsung there as well. However while both companies have yet to officially reveal what kind of products that they might launch at the event, we think we can guess what they are.
For LG, it will probably be the LG G5, and there are rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S7 could make an appearance as well. That being said, it seems that LG might have confirmed this, according to a report from the Korea Times in which they quote an LG executive who claims that the company will unveil two devices at the event.
According to the unnamed executive, they were quoted as saying, “A day ahead of the official opening of the MWC, LG plans to unveil a new flagship mobile via a press event.” The official also added that the LG G4 was delayed last year, but this year they have plans to rectify that by launching their flagship at the same time as Samsung’s.
“The unveiling of LG’s new flagship handset was delayed months after the release of the new Samsung flagship handset. But this year will be different. LG Electronics is ready to take on Samsung.” Unfortunately, LG themselves had no official comment about the executive’s claims, so take it with a grain of salt for now. At the same time, we reckon it doesn’t seem like that much of a stretch.
Either way, MWC is taking place towards the end of February, with LG’s event pegged for the 21st, so check back with us then for the details.
