That also means that they cannot rest on their laurels because the competition is so stiff, and it looks like LG has some new display technology up their sleeves that they are planning on showing off at CES 2016. According to LG’s press release, the company will be showing off rollable and extreme-curved displays, an S-shaped 139-inch Vertical Tiling OLED panel that can be used for signage, and a wave-shaped 25-inch “Waterfall” LCD panel designed to fit in the interior of automobiles or places with curved surfaces.
Safe to say that these displays won’t be available commercially, at least not in the near future, but it goes to show what LG has been up to and what kind of displays we might expect in the future that aren’t necessary a flat-screen. Of course in addition to these new display technologies, LG will also be showing off new 65-inch and 77-inch UHD OLED TV panels, along with models that will sport a “borderless” feature, thus removing the border between the bezel and the screen.
We will be live at CES 2016 so if you’d like to learn more about what LG and other companies are up to, do check back with us during the week for the details.
