lg_g5_renderThere have been some rumors circulating about the LG G5, namely how for the first time, LG’s flagship smartphone will be made from metal. Like we said this is a first for LG as the company’s previous G-series of flagships were made using plastic, and recently there were even leather backing options.

The rumors have apparently been confirmed by the folks at CNET Korea who claims that not only will the body of the LG G5 be made from metal, but it will also come with an interesting and unique feature in the form of a slide-out battery, in which the battery can be ejected from the smartphone like you would a gun clip from a firearm.

They even produced a rendering of what the phone will look like with its slide out battery, which apparently is based on eyewitness testimony. If anything, this render also looks like what we’ve seen in the past from an alleged leak, so we guess at the very least the rumor mill is keeping things consistent.

No word on when the LG G5 will be launched, but the company has sent out invites to its event to be held on the 21st of February, so it is possible that we could learn more about the phone then, so be sure to check back with us next month for the details.
