[CES 2016] Shopping for a new laptop but don’t want one that feels like you’re carrying around a bag of rocks? If you are, Lenovo has recently announced the new IdeaPad 700 laptops that will come in both 15-inch and 17-inch options, with prices starting from as low as $799.
So what can we expect from these laptops? First of all, both models are nearly identical in terms of hardware. The obvious difference is its screen size, but apart from that the resolutions will remain the same at Full HD. Under the hood, customers can choose to configure the laptop with processors such as Intel’s 6th gen Core i7 SV processor.
RAM can also be configured up to 16GB if you have need for so much RAM, and storage can also be chosen between 1TB of regular HDD storage, or 1TB of SSHD storage, or if you’d prefer pure SSD, you can opt between 128GB or 256GB options. Now interestingly enough this is where the differences end.
Typically PC makers will opt to give the larger model a better GPU, but in this case Lenovo has decided to give the 15-inch model an NVIDIA GeForce GTX X950M GPU with 4GB of VRAM, while the 17-inch model will get the GeForce GTX X940M with 4GB of VRAM. It’s probably not that big of a difference, but it’s an interesting choice nonetheless. Both models are expected to see a release in June 2016.
