Right now the iPad Pro is iPad with the highest resolution display at 2732×2048. This is versus the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 4, both of which sport resolutions of 2048×1536. However if the rumors are to be believed, the iPad Air 3 could take the cake with a 4K display, or at least that’s what the reports are claiming.
According to reports from Taiwan-based supply chains, it seems that the iPad Air 3 could feature an upgraded 4K resolution for its display. This is a huge leap over the iPad Pro, which we can assume is Apple’s flagship iPad at the moment. If anything we would have assumed that the iPad Air 3’s resolution would be on par with the iPad Pro at the most.
With its display size, such a resolution would be pretty sharp and 4K would kind of be overkill, not to mention it would be a drain on the battery as it would need a lot to power it. However we should note that this is the first time we are hearing that the iPad Air 3 could sport a 4K display. Yesterday’s report from 9to5Mac did not reveal similar information and they have been known to have a pretty good track record with Apple-related rumors.
That being said, it’s best to take it with a grain of salt. However does the idea of an iPad with a 4K display appeal to you? We guess if the reports are true, we could be finding out in the next couple of months.
