There have been some efforts made to curb online bullying and harassment, and recently at CES 2016, Intel has announced that they will be working together with the likes of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation, Vox Media, and Re/code to put an end to online harassment, in an initiative that they are calling Hack Harassment.
According to Intel’s CEO Brian Krzanich, “Online harassment is pervasive and can be vicious. If we’re to truly succeed in a smart and connected world, we need to remember that behind every device, game, sensor or network is a real person with real feelings and real needs for safety. No one company can address this issue alone – as an industry, we need to work together to create a safer, more inclusive online experience.”
To kick things off, they will be launching a hackathon for later this year, where they will come together to try and come up with ways to deal with the issues by raising awareness, create anti-harassment solutions, and also to increase accountability.
