Search is in Google’s DNA, that’s really what made Google the behemoth that it is today, which is why it’s not surprising to see the company put an emphasis on search-related features in its other services. It has rolled out an update for Inbox by Gmail today that brings improved search features to this email management app, the aim is to make it easier for Inbox users to find important bits of information that usually get buried inside larger conversations.
Inbox by Gmail will now provide answers at a glance, regardless of whether the user is searching for a shipping status or frequent flyer number, Inbox will show it at the top of search results thus eliminating the need for digging through individual emails. It does the same for flights, events, phone and membership numbers, addresses and more.
Search results will now be more streamlined in the app. Underneath quick answers, users will now see a “Top results” section which orders emails by relevance. Below that will be all email results but Google says that top results will have what users are looking for most of the time.
Over the past few months, Google has gradually improved Inbox by Gmail by adding more features and making it more powerful. Users will certainly appreciate all that it has done to make Inbox much better than it has ever been before, and these new search features will certainly make users lives much easier.
