In fact, Hyundai intends to be the first mainstream automaker to launch an augmented reality owner’s manual app later this year. This will be a modern look at the traditional owner’s manual, where consumers can make use of their smartphone or tablet device to obtain how-to information for repairs, maintenance and vehicle features. The Hyundai Virtual Guide will be compatible with the 2015 Sonata model at first, although that will soon expand to cater for additional models down the road.
This new app is capable of recognizing over 45 major features of the Sonata, where it can be downloaded for free over on the Apple App store and Google Play. Frank Ferrara, executive vice president, customer satisfaction, Hyundai Motor America shared, “The Virtual Guide is aimed at educating our owners on how to use the functions and features of their vehicle. We modernized the idea of an owner’s manual to provide the highest-quality user experience for the growing population of tech savvy consumers.”
It will make use of two- and three-dimensional tracking technology in order to deliver deep levels of information related to different parts of the car, where all you need to do is to make sure there is ample light while positioning your smartphone or tablet’s camera over the part that you would like to know more about.
