However recent rumors have suggested that Google might be thinking about making their own virtual reality hardware, thanks to job listings that seemed to call upon engineers and developers who could help make that happen. Now according to a report from Re/code, it seems like it could be true as Google has reportedly beefed up its virtual reality team.
This was done by shuffling Google employees around and taking some employees from other divisions. The report claims that the company has moved around 10 employees, and one of those employees is said to be Joshua To, a design lead for the apps unit. Google confirmed To’s move but did not dive into details.
This has led to speculation that Google could be trying to improve upon its design for virtual reality, whether it be on the software side or the hardware side. Either way we guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this will develop. Who knows, maybe Google might have something to share with us at Google I/O later this year.
