That being said, this also means that how long the Game of Thrones series will run for is anyone’s guess, but the good news is that we could have at least 2 more seasons (season 6 notwithstanding) to look forward to. This is according to a report from Deadline Hollywood in which it was revealed that there are talks to extend the series to seasons 7 and 8.
This was confirmed by HBO president Michael Lombardo where he said they are in talks with the show’s creators and executive producers, David Benioff and Dan Weiss. It is also possible that season 8 could be the last season, based on what Lombardo had said back in July last year.
According to Lombardo, “David and Dan are feeling there’s probably two more years after Season 6, that’s what we’re looking at right now. We hope that they would change their mind, but that’s how they are feeling now.” In the meantime Game of Thrones season 6 has been pegged for a 24th of April release.
