Usually support for Windows Phone is added later, so it was nice to see support right off the bat. Or so we thought. According to Fitbit, it seems that they have actually confirmed that the device isn’t fully supported in Windows Phone yet. The good news is that it will work, but you could be missing out on several features.
According to the company’s statement, “You will be able to sync Fitbit Blaze with your Windows Phone bluetooth, but unfortunately call/text notification are still in the process of verification because the Microsoft Windows platform does not provide a GATT server. Fitbit leverages this technology to provide notifications on our hardware. Microsoft and Fitbit are working together to bring a solution as soon as possible.”
Unfortunately we have no idea when full support will be added, but the device is expected to begin shipping in March, so hopefully Fitbit will have something for Windows Phone users by then. In the meantime it is currently available for pre-order via Fitbit’s website for $200.
