Back in 2014, Oculus announced that they would be co-publishing EVE: Valkyrie. For those unfamiliar, Valkyrie is basically a game based on the EVE universe, except that it will playable on the Oculus Rift and will be a virtual reality take on the game, so if you’ve always wondered what it would be like to play a space shooter in VR, here’s your chance.
That being said, the good news is that we could be edging closer to a launch. The game’s developer CCP has recently announced that the alpha of EVE: Valkyrie will be kicking off later this month, the 18th of January to be exact. Not everyone will be selected to participate in the alpha, but if you own the Oculus Rift DK2 then you can pop on over to their website and sign up and see if you’re lucky enough to be selected.
A specific release date for EVE: Valkyrie has yet to be determined, but like we said, its alpha is just bringing us one step closer to its release, and after that we can probably expect a beta before the game is made available to everyone. In the meantime, the Oculus Rift is currently up for pre-order.
It is priced at $599 but the good news is that according to a report from last year, EVE: Valkyrie will be bundled with the headset, so even though the headset is pricey, at least you’ll be getting a free game out of it.
