Last year a new Doom game was announced and safe to say that it looks pretty damn good, not to mention pretty damn scary as well. It has been quite a while since the last Doom title which is why many fans of the franchise are highly-anticipating its release. Now the multiplayer alpha went live last year, but the question is when will the game be released?
Its publisher Bethesda has yet to confirm a date, but Amazon France could have given it away. The listing was spotted by Twitter user MasterGame24680 (via Attack of the Fanboy) where as you can see in the screenshot to the right, it shows the game’s availability set for the 30th of June, 2016. This seems awfully specific, leading us to think that it might be true.
However Amazon France has since rectified it and now states that it will be released on the 31st of December, 2016 which is pretty much a placeholder date. Either Amazon France got the date wrong, or the date was right and that they weren’t supposed to list it yet which is why they changed it to the end of the year. If it was wrong, they could have just as easily left it as it is.
We should note that Amazon France has in the past leaked several dates pretty accurate, so maybe there is some truth to the original listing. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now. The beta of the game has yet to launch so until we see that, a final release is still anyone’s guess.
