It can be rather difficult to believe how fast time has flown, where close to 20 years have passed since Nintendo rolled out their first Pokemon titles. Well, the franchise continues to have new titles, and the latest one from Nintendo would be Detective Pikachu, which is a title headed for the Nintendo 3DS platform, and will obviously be a Pokemon spin-off which will place you in the shoes – or should we say, paws, of the Sherlock-inspired version of the electrifying Pikachu.
The Pikachu featured in Detective Pikachu will be very, very different from what most fans are used to – players are in the role of a deep-voiced Pokemon who loves drinking coffee, now how about that? First announced three years ago as Meitantei Pikachu: Shin Konbi Tanjou (which would be translated to something along the lines of “Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Team”), revealed the new trailer as you can see above – where it makes use of pre-rendered graphics most of the time while one is introduced to the titular Detective Pikachu.
Surely this will throw us off balance from the cute, high pitched voice that Pikachu makes use of in the older Pokemon titles. Expect Detective Pikachu to hit the Nintendo 3DS in Japan this coming February 3, and so far Nintendo has remained silent on any North American release date.
