[CES 2016] Whatever can be measured, can be improved, or so that is the mantra in which some of us follow and keep track of. Having said that, nothing is sacred when it comes to connectivity and smart devices in this day and age, and the fitness arena has definitely changed with a slew of activity trackers and heart rate monitors hitting the market. How about those who are interested in lifting weights to ensure that their bodies bulk up in due time? Bowflex has the answer with their SelectTech 560 Dumbbells. These might be dumbbells fundamentally, but they are smart ones – an oxymoron of sorts.
What makes the SelectTech 560 Dumbbells so different from the rest? For starters, they are the first of its kind, where one can now enjoy a guided workout as the dumbbells keep track of reps, sets and number of calories burned. The compact design would replace a whole set of dumbbells to just a pair compared to 32 – a definite space saver if you are living in a cramped apartment starved of space.
Using Bluetooth connectivity, it will send workout data sans wires to your iOS or Android devices, and the 3DT integrated electronic sensors keep track of the number of reps and amount of weight lifted, while sending an audible cue for the number of reps that are completed properly. With pre-loaded workouts in the app giving you an idea on how to work it, you can also keep track of your goals and progress – not to mention share results when there is a breakthrough.
You can also opt to adjust the weight incrementally from 5 to 60 pounds simply by twisting the dumbbell’s handle in its resting position to click the additional weights into place – making it safer than ever before.
