It looks like the train is not slowing down because according to a new report, Blizzard will be pumping as much as $4 million into the Heroes of the Storm eSports circuit, which will be taking place throughout the year. There will be three different seasons that will lead up to BlizzCon’s Global Championship, with the prize money being split across said seasons.
Now obviously the $4 million Blizzard is putting into the Heroes of the Storm circuit is nowhere near the $18 million that Valve and the community managed to raise for The International DotA 2 competition, but it does show that Blizzard is taking it very seriously, especially when you consider that Heroes of the Storm is meant to compete against other MOBAs like DotA 2 and League of Legends.
Will Heroes of the Storm reach the same levels of competitiveness as DotA 2 and League of Legends? It certainly looks that way, but what do you guys think?
