The issue here is that when the Apple TV has been put to sleep, for some reason or other, it will just wake itself up and in some cases, will turn on the TV that it is connected to. This could be an issue as there might be sound blasting from your TVs speakers in the dead of the night, or even worse is that there is no sound and you end up wasting a fair bit of electricity in the process.
It has also been suggested that this could impact plasma TV owners the worst as it could result in screen burn-in. No word on why the Apple TVs are suddenly waking themselves up, but there have been fingers pointed at Bluetooth and AirPlay. Some users have found success in closing all apps before putting the Apple TV to sleep.
Others have tried restarting their units and turning off ad tracking. Alternatively disabling HDMI-CEC in tvOS settings could help as well, but safe to say that this is a weird bug and one that we hope Apple will be able to resolve soon. In the meantime any of our readers experiencing this issue with their fourth-gen Apple TVs?
