[CES 2016] Do you think that the smart glasses arena has more or less become stale by now? After all, there has not been any kind of quantum leaps in terms of hardware and performance, but this has not stopped companies like Altotech of China from trying, where their latest effort comes in the form of the Cool Glass ONE. The Cool Glass ONE has been developed to have it come equipped with basic functions such as snapping photos, recording videos, taking phone calls, and navigation purposes, among others.
It will make use of a low power consumption M200 chip that allows the Cool Glass ONE to carry a long standby time. Not only that, the Cool Glass ONE claims to boast of a higher picture resolution and pixel compared to Google Glass, where it will also feature localized apps such as weibo, WeChat and Youku, although there is a need to change all that when a US-bound version arrives.
It requires a mere 15 minutes to juice up fully, which is rather surprising, while the case itself is a rechargeable dock. It folds up nicely into its case, and will also boast of an 8MP shooter which does 720p video recording as well in real time. Voice control is also thrown into the mix, although one cannot help but feel this is a Google Glass ripoff since the voice commands start with “OK, Cool Glass”. It certainly has some way to go before being refined, but it is a decent start.
