Tailor In Hong Kong Uses 3D Scanner To Get Precise Measurements

Depending on the tailor that you go to, you may or may not walk away with a suit that fits you nicely. After all tailors are only human and sometimes there are human errors, or maybe some tailors just aren’t skilled enough to get your measurements down pat, so the end result could be a jacket that’s oversized or undersized.

However it seems that over in Hong Kong, a tailor shop by the name of Gay Giano has resorted to using a 3D scanner to get the measurements of its clients. How it works is that the customer wears a tight fitting bodysuit and walks into the machine. The machine is equipped with 14 sensors that can take a variety of measurements, 120 to be exact.

The measurements are also pretty detailed such as length, circumference, and angle, meaning that just about every part of your body is being analyzed to create that perfect suit. This is versus the 20-30 different measurements that a more traditional tailor will take. Of course there are plenty of tailors out there who rely on traditional methods of measuring a person for a suit and are doing a good job of it.

However since the machine takes about 10 seconds to measure your entire body, it does save the tailor a lot of time, time in which they can then spend on making your suit. Of course some old school tailors might scoff at the idea of such machinery, but if you want a suit that’s guaranteed to fit, maybe pitch the idea to your local tailor next time.
