This would no doubt be a new phone to be added to the lineup as far as the naming is concerned. So far in the past we have seen Sony launch regular versions of their phone, as well as Compact versions, like what they did with the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact earlier this year, so a “Lite” version is rather intriguing.
As for the specs, the Xperia Z6 Lite is rumored to feature a 5-inch display with an unknown resolution, and under the hood a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset can be found, making the Lite a pretty decent mid-ranger, at least based on these specs. It is also said to cost around $385 making it somewhat affordable and it will most probably be announced alongside the other Xperia Z6 phones.
As to when Sony’s new Xperia phones will be launched, earlier this month the company announced the date for their CES 2016 press conference. In the announcement there was an image of a smartphone alongside other Sony products like cameras, headphones, TVs, and etc., suggesting that we could hear some new phone announcements then.
Either way it’s best taken with a grain of salt for now, but we should get all the official details next week so check back with us then for the details, if there are any to be had.
