Windows 10 Mobile End Of Life Set At 2018?

Now this is certainly interesting – while Windows 10 Mobile has been around for some time already, it must be said that the official release of the mobile operating system is available only on the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, without arriving on older Lumia handsets. However, it seems that Microsoft already made up their mind on when the end-of-life (EOL) date would be when it comes to Windows 10 Mobile, and January 2018 would be when there would no longer be any more updates for this mobile operating system.

It was first intimated that the EOL date would be January 2018, although it seems that Microsoft has changed that to January 2019 since then. Was it an oversight on Microsoft’s part that it was originally supposed to be 2019, and it was a mistake that led them to hastily change the details? Who really knows, right?

The thing is, EOL is important to know, since that would more or less determine the purchasing pattern of users when it comes to a particular piece of hardware. Where Windows 10 Mobile is concerned, then not too many devices would be affected as of now, although one can never quite tell just how many more Windows 10 Mobile devices will be rolled out in the future. Perhaps whispers of a Surface Phone could be yet another reasons for the relatively near EOL date.
