Note that this isn’t 9% of the entire smartphone market, but rather 9% of Microsoft’s mobile operating system. Granted in the grand scheme of things this a very tiny fraction, but it is still pretty impressive for a relatively new operating system. In fact based on the numbers, it is possible that Windows 10 Mobile will eclipse Windows Phone 8 in the next month or so.
As it stands the most dominating Windows Phone platform is Windows Phone 8.1, which is sitting at 77.6% of all Windows Phone devices. We reckon it will take a while for Windows 10 Mobile to catch up, but with more Lumia devices running on the OS being released, we reckon it shouldn’t be too long.
Of course whether or not Windows 10 Mobile will allow Microsoft to start catching up to iOS or Android remains to be seen, but so far things are looking pretty good for Microsoft.
