So what is Walmart Pay? Basically this is similar to the other mobile payment services available in the market at the moment, although Walmart is boasting that unlike the other services which seems to exclusive to certain platforms, Walmart Pay will work on both iOS and Android devices. It will also play nicely with any major debit or credit card, along with Walmart gift cards.
If you shop frequently at Walmart then perhaps this might be a service worth checking out. According to Neil Ashe, president and CEO of Walmart Global eCommerce, ”The Walmart app was built to make shopping faster and easier. Walmart Pay is the latest example – and a powerful addition – of how we are transforming the shopping experience by seamlessly connecting online, mobile and stores for the 140 million customers who shop with us weekly.”
The payment service is baked into the Walmart app itself so all users have to do is update the app and they should have the feature already. It also does not require any additional hardware from users as it will rely on your phone’s camera to scan the payment code. Last year Walmart announced that they would not be accepting Apple Pay, and with the launch of Walmart Pay it is easy to see why.
