Ever since Snapchat became such a hit, it was only natural to start seeing other messaging apps and companies come up with similar features and functionality, and recently it looks like Viber wants in on the fun as well. While known mostly as a VoIP app with messaging capabilities, Viber has launched a separate app called Viber Wink.
Basically at the core, Viber Wink functions similarly to Snapchat. It allows users to take a photo or video using the app and sending it to a friend. As you can see in the screenshot above, users can choose how long they want the photo or video to last before deleting itself. Users also have the option of making the photos or videos permanent if that’s what they want.
According to the app’s description, “Take a picture or video with Viber Wink, save it to your gallery or set a time limit for it and share via Viber. Once the recipient has seen your message it will disappear.” So basically instead of being a chat app like Snapchat, Viber Wink seems to be more like a camera app that is tied in with Viber.
Users will need to update their Viber in order to be able to send or receive Wink messages, but if you already have the latest version then head on over to the iTunes App Store or Google Play to get your hands on the Viber Wink app.
