Naughty Dog announced earlier this year that it was delaying Uncharted 4 to 2016 and fans were naturally not happy about that decision. Well they’re not going to like the studio’s latest decision one bit, because Naughty Dog has confirmed once again that it’s delaying Uncharted 4 one more time. If there is a silver lining to this dark cloud for fans, it’s that the title’s release has merely been pushed back by one month.
Uncharted 4: was due to be released in March 2016, and while giving us the good news that the title is wrapping up production, game directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley say that they’re going to need a bit more time to finish this game so that it meets “our standards and vision.”
They further explain that since this is the largest Uncharted game to date and the team has been working very hard to meet the challenge of closing development in a timely manner, as it approached the final deadlines the team realized that several key sequences required extra resources. All options were considered before it was decided to delay the release to add more polish to the title to ensure that it doesn’t suffer from any issues at launch.
The game directors acknowledge that pushing the release date isn’t an easy choice and say that they wouldn’t do it if they didn’t feel it in their hearts that it’s the best course of action for Uncharted 4. They sincerely apologize to fans and promise that they will find the extra bit of wait to be worth it.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will now be released on April 26th, 2016.
