Uber announced the release of a new button which will enable both iOS as well as Android developers to include an Uber Ride Request button to their apps. The Uber Rides Software Developer Kits (SDK) for iOS and Android can be picked up via Uber’s GitHub page at the moment.
Basically, it will work this way. Should the app in question happen to carry a specific address, then Uber’s button would be specially configured in order to enter that address as a destination automatically whenever the app opens. Those who are interested will first need to register their apps with the Uber Developer Dashboard, before installing their preferred SDK and configure their location and trip information.
As for users, it is pretty much a painless experience to hail an Uber ride then – all that you need to do is to tap on the button which will then open up the Uber app with the intended destination, or for App Store users who do not have Uber installed on their devices. App developers can also take this opportunity to earn some dough on the side, thanks to Uber’s Affiliate program working with the Uber app. [Press Release]
