Note that neither the Nexus 5X or the 6P has optical image stabilization. Instead the Nexus 6P relies on software to help stabilize photos/videos, a feature missing in the Nexus 5X. The good news is that thanks to cthuluhoop123 on Reddit, it seems that he has discovered a way to bring that feature over onto the Nexus 5X.
According to the post, “Step one: Go into Build.prop Step two: add the line persist.camera.eis.enable=1 Step three: reboot Enjoy! You’ll find the option to turn in on in camera settings” However we have to point out that this will require users to root the Nexus 5X so if you’re not willing to do that for whatever reason, you won’t be able to enjoy this feature.
Now it is possible that Google/LG did not include this feature as the Nexus 5X does not pack the same specs as the Nexus 6P, meaning that your experience might not necessarily be optimal. However if you want to give it a try, why not?
