Tinder is an app designed for people to meet other people and to date, and who knows maybe find true love and get married. However Tinder is also using its popularity to help raise awareness about certain issues, and recently in a partnership with the NHS in the UK, they are using its platform to raise awareness about organ donation.
Basically for the next two weeks, users of Tinder in the UK might come across profiles from the likes of Olympic gold medalist Jade Jones, as well as TV stars Jamie Laing and Gemma Oaten. Note that these celebrities aren’t actually on Tinder but rather their profiles will be used to make people more aware of organ donation.
So if a user were to swipe right on their profile, users will be greeted by a message that says, “If only it was that easy for those in need of a life-saving organ to find a match.” That being said, this isn’t the first time Tinder has used its platform to advertise. For example we’ve seen it used in the past to promote movies and albums.
At the same time we have also seen third-parties use Tinder to advertise products themselves, like what Bethesda did for Fallout Shelter, and also what the Brazilian government did to help promote awareness about AIDs.
