Many companies use the CES stage to unveil their new smartphones, and since the International Consumer Electronics Show 2015 is merely weeks away, there’s an uptick in rumors concerning new handsets from manufacturers like Sony and LG. A new rumor claims that the company is going to release two flagship smartphones in the coming year and that both will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, but both are not expected to be unveiled at CES 2016 next month.

This particular rumor contradicts a previous one which claimed that the Xperia Z6 lineup destined for 2016 will feature five handsets with at least four being powered by Snapdragon 820.

It’s now claimed that Sony will only launch two high-end flagship handsets in the coming year and that both are going to tout the Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm under the hood. Sony is expected to unveil one of these devices in May and start selling it by June, whereas the other is likely to be announced at IFA 2016 in September and subsequently released in October.

So if this latest rumor is to be believed it would mean that Sony will not be unveiling a new flagship smartphone at CES 2016. For its part Sony is mum about its CES 2016 plans so we can’t really be sure of what it’ll do unless there’s official word from the company.
