Last year Pokkén Tournament was announced and towards the middle of this year, the game found its way to Japanese arcades. However for those not living in Japan, a Nintendo Wii U version of the game was also announced where it is expected to find its way onto the console sometime in 2016.
That being said, as if the premise of the game wasn’t cool enough, a tweet by Serebii.net (via Tiny Cartridge) has revealed that the game will be getting its own official Wii U controller, as you can see in the photo above. Unfortunately it seems that for now, the controller is limited to the Japanese market but we wouldn’t be surprised if it eventually made its way into other markets in the future.
If you’re wondering why the controller looks so familiar, it is because it is modeled after the controller of the arcade version of the game in Japan, so in terms of looks and feel, it should be the same. If you’ve played the arcade version before, then your experience with this controller should not be unfamiliar, although we have to wonder if the controller could also potentially be used with other games in the future.
According to Serebii.net, the controller will be priced at 3,480¥ and will be released on the 18th of March, 2016 which is when the game will be released in Japan.
