Throughout this year Microsoft has released multiple competitively priced smartphones prior to unveiling the two new Lumia flagship smartphones, but the one that has gone on sale today it the company’s most affordable 4G LTE smartphone to date, and to top it all off the handset is even powered by Windows 10. Microsoft Lumia 550 has been released across Europe, other markets get it over the next couple of weeks.
Lumia 550 is powered by Windows 10, the latest and greatest iteration of its mobile OS, and features all apps that you’d expect on a Microsoft handset like Cortana, OneDrive, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as Skype.
The handset itself features a 4.7 inch 720p HD display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor under the hood aided by 1GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage with microSD card slot. There’s also a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 2,100mAh removable battery.
Glance Screen feature is also available on the handset, it makes sure that users don’t miss out on important notifications by displaying them on the lock screen without even having to unlock or wake up the handset.
The Lumia 550 is priced at approximately $139, which most certainly makes it the cheapest Windows 10-powered smartphone the company has ever built, it’s also the cheapest Windows 10-powered handset available on the market right now so if you’d like to sample the OS perhaps you should consider picking up a Lumia 550.
