The Microsoft Lumia 650 handset is a device that has been talked about before for a while now. In fact there have even been renderings of the handsets that were leaked, but given that it has not been made official, we suppose it could just as easily be a fake product meant to fool us. The good news is that it is not.
During a Windows Weekly podcast, Microsoft CMO Chris Capossela revealed to ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley that the Lumia 650 does exist. This was when Foley asked Capossela about the phone’s release, to which he responded by saying that they had not announced a release date for the handset yet, essentially confirming that the Lumia 650 is real.
That being said, we suppose this means that a launch date or the phone is still pretty much up in the air. However CES is taking place next month and MWC the month after, so those are some potential platforms to announce the phone at. Microsoft’s BUILD conference is also taking place towards the end of March, so that’s another potential platform.
There have also been rumors that Cricket could begin carrying the phone in April, so in reality any of those three events or anywhere in the middle could be a possibility, so we guess we’ll just have to wait and see which one Microsoft chooses. Be sure to check back with us in the coming months for the details.
