A couple of years ago LucasArts announced an upcoming Star Wars game titled Star Wars 1313. It had an interesting premise and not to mention pretty amazing graphics, but unfortunately it seems that in 2013, it was announced that development on the game had been halted. We should note at that time it was not cancelled and that sentiment holds true until today.
In fact recently Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy revealed that the studio still had hopes for the game. Speaking to Slashfilm, Kennedy stated that the studio was hoping to use some of the unused material for future projects. This and the scrapped plans for the Star Wars Underworld TV show, both of which are set on the world of Coruscant.
According to Kennedy, “We don’t want to throw any of that stuff away. It’s gold. And it’s something we’re spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further. We definitely want to.” However what its final form will end up as is anyone’s guess, whether it be a new video game or maybe a new TV series or maybe even a spin-off movie.
For those unfamiliar with Star Wars 1313, basically the game puts you in the shoes of a bounty hunter. Given that most Star Wars titles allow you to assume the role of a Jedi or Sith, or at least someone in alliance to the light or dark side, the role of a bounty hunter was a fresh and interesting one. In any case we guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this one plays out.
