While Huawei might not necessarily command the same attention in US markets unlike Apple or Samsung, they are certainly doing a very good job because according to a recent announcement by the Chinese smartphone maker, they have revealed that for 2015 they have managed to shipping a very impressive 100 million smartphones.
Note that these are smartphones shipped, as opposed to sold. This means that out of the 100 million, Huawei could have only sold 10%, although this is very unlikely as smartphone shipments are usually dictated by demand, so for them to see enough demand to ship 100 million handsets is actually pretty impressive.
In fact by shipping 100 million smartphones, it puts Huawei in third position only behind the likes of Apple and Samsung. It helps that Huawei also created this year’s Nexus 6P which has received many a favorable review for not only its specs and features, but also for its camera which has performed rather well against the stiff competition.
Huawei had recently announced that they have plans to bring their Honor brand to the US. Will their US entrance see the same response that they have in Asia and markets like China, or will it be a completely different story? It looks like we’ll have to wait and find out.
