The good news is that if you weren’t particularly enamored by Apple Music or Spotify, Google has officially launched the Family Plan for Google Play Music. What this means is that similar to the family plans offered by Apple Music and Spotify, Google Play Music’s Family Plan will allow multiple users to subscribe to Play Music at a much lower cost.
How much, you ask? $14.99 a month is all Google is asking, which is pretty much in line with the rest of the industry (given how competitive the scene is, this isn’t too surprising). However Google’s plan actually works out to be cheaper than the competition. For example Spotify is priced at $14.99 for two family members, and additional members you add will be priced at $5 each.
Google’s plan is similar to Apple Music where the fee of $14.99 a month will allow up to six users to be subscribed. So if you have six family members at home including yourself, this works out to a little more than $2 each per month. Not too bad, right? That being said the family plan will only be applicable to those living in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, and Germany, with more countries expected to be added to the list in the future.
