The Star Wars hype is very real and it seems that many companies are taking it and running with it. We’ve seen Google run their own Star Wars promotions, and now it looks like Facebook wants in on the Star Wars fun too. The official Star Wars page has announced a feature in which you can now add a lightsaber to your profile picture.
According to the post, “Awaken the Force within by adding Finn’s lightsaber to your profile picture.” However the good news is that it won’t be all Jedi only as those of you who fancy the Dark Side will also be able to add red lightsabers to your profile. This feature is similar to Facebook’s temporary profile pictures.
Just in case you’re not aware, Facebook has a feature that allows users to temporarily change their profile picture. This has been used in the past to allow users to show their support for certain events around the world. For example back in June, Facebook allowed users to add a rainbow flag when it was announced by the US Supreme Court that they would be striking down the ban on same-sex marriage.
It was also offered recently during the Paris attacks where users could add a picture of France’s flag to their profile. It has also been used for sporting events to allow fans of a certain club to show their support. In any case if you’d like to show your support for Star Wars, then head on over to its Facebook page for the details.
